If you are a business and have a website, one thing I would advise you to do is install Google Analytics into your website. Why? Google Analytics will help provide you valuable data about the visitors of your website and help improve the efficiency of your website. What information does it provide?
Website Visitors
Google Analytics keeps the guessing work to a minimal by tracking the visitors to your website. They divide these numbers by if the visitor is a “unique” or “returning” visitor so you can see who the majority of your website visitors are, current customers or potential.
Traffic Sources
If your company wanted to view the effectiveness of your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts, Google Analytics is a great source to do this. It breaks down the top search keywords for you and also shows if your website traffic came from search, referral or direct traffic sources.
Visitors Flow
Ever wonder which parts of your website people look at most often? Google Analytics provides the Visitors Flow tool that shows you which pages your website visitors are heading to and where they go from there. Are they not contacting you? Maybe it’s time to make the “Contact Us” page more visible. Is there a page you’d like them to go to more often? Maybe it would be a good idea to link it to a banner image.
Time Spent
Are people on your website for a long periods of time or short? If short, they might be having a usability issue or might dislike your website design and it might be time to consider a redesign.
